I had a burst of inspiration and while at my day job today I just brainstormed an idea for a kinda fucked up dungeon crawler that goes hard as hell. Probably gonna be what I work on as a side project after the rover game is done

It's kinda funny that every project I work on seems to either be:
-cute little creatures going on a heartfelt but potentially intense adventure
-Something Really Fucked Up Is Happening

I think my plan to work on shorter games alongside my bigger projects is gonna be good not just for having a release every year, but also just... switching things up, creatively. I love Stomp but it's nice to not spend every single day working on it

Hoping to get a trailer and Steam page up for my space rover horror game soon! A proper announcement with some more information. I've been working on it while taking a break from Stomp until next month and it's been nice to spend some time focused on something different for a bit

It's a tricky balance because might result in some players being disappointed not knowing whether they've seen everything, but I think there's something special about a world where you're left wondering how much more is out there...

I LOVE that there's a hidden Silksong boss I only just heard of yesterday! I love that there's probably little secret rooms I've never seen. It makes the world feel alive. Have important upgrades be relatively easy to find, and then hide secrets with no MAJOR benefit all over the place...

The kind of metroidvania design I really like is when it's more about exploration than it is about finding secrets. There's a distinction! Secrets can reward and facilitate exploration without necessarily being the point of the game.

This is something ive been thinking about a lot lately, specifically about completion percentages! I told some people the other day that I was thinking of not having one in Stomp, and there was a surprising amount of backlash, but tons of beloved games don't have one...

Those sorts of scenes are honestly probably part of why Mike was one of my favourite characters. Those scenes are just so weirdly compelling. Vince could probably make an entertaining 10 minute long scene of someone quietly putting together a sandwich

One thing I'm appreciating about Pluribus is getting more of those scenes that BB/BCS had where the show is really taking its time showing a character doing something/figuring out how to do something and you don't even necessarily know WHAT theyre doing right away.
