Because the lead investigator of a project I work on researched the effect of giving civil service jobs to vulnerable people in the Middle East in an effort to prevent adherence to terrorist groups.

And it works.

They were kids then, but they’re public service adults now who didn’t get sucked in.

Why does it matter?

Policy programming like this builds a sense of love for community. BECAUSE OF THE MUTUAL GRATITUDE. It’s hard to commit crimes or act out in violence when you love your community.

IMO. Republicans are just fighting for control of the hate machine & none of them are actually interested in deconstructing the violent white supremacy that has consumed the GOP.

Some are going co-opt overt racism as a wedge issue so covert racism can regain control of the party.
