When asked by reporters Friday if extension talks have occurred this spring, Peralta grinned and replied, “No comment.” But according to a person familiar with the Mets’ thinking, no serious discussions have taken place.

Ken Rosenthal wrote that "no serious discussions" have taken place between the Mets and Freddy Peralta regarding a contract extension, but added "not to worry" and seemed to indicate it'll probably happen eventually.

How I Won the War

The Mets optioned RHP Alex Carrillo to Triple-A and reassignedLHP Anderson Severino and LHP Matt Turner to minor league camp.

Some Mets were asked what one thing people pretend to like. Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong went at it a little bit over black coffee ("That's a you problem.")

Mets 4, Astros 3. Clay Holmes pitched four good innings. Tyrone Taylor and Chris Suero each hit solo homers. Yonatan Henriquez had the walk-off single. The Mets are 5-3-1 this spring.

C-1B-LF Chris Suero just homered for the Mets to tie the fake game up at three. 381 feet.

Poor Bryce Conley came in to relieve Jack Wenninger two innings in a row and had to deal with traffic. Both innings, he gave up a run. 3-2 Astros, bottom 7th.

Jack Wenninger threw a 1-2-3 fifth inning. In the sixth, he walked four batters in a row. Consistency is underrated.

Ron Darling is telling a wild story about the time he worked the offseason bar mitzvah circuit. He and Phil Simms worked one in Woodstock featuring exotic animals.

Clay Holmes' day is done. Four innings, 63 pitches. He allowed one earned run on three hits, walked one and struck out four. Threw the sinker 43 percent of the time.

(Alimber) Santa providing gifts. With two outs he walked Christian Arroyo and Vidal Bruján, then allowed a Cristian Pache RBI double to make it 2-1 Mets in the 4th.

Sometimes they yell "challenge" though and you can't tell who did it. “¯\_(ツ)_/¯“

Maybe it's just the Met broadcasts, but one flaw I'm noticing so far with the ABS challenge system is that announcers can't seem to tell sometimes which team is making the challenge.

As for more minor nuisances that gained criticism toward Nimmo, he did agree those were possibly problems. For example, as part of the program that has allowed him to play so many games the past four years, Nimmo hardly ever takes batting practice at home, feeling it is detrimental to warm up for that (the home team always hits first), then cool down and then heat up again for the game. So Nimmo often waits to close to the game, gets into uniform, warms up and goes to play, and that apartness from the club disturbed some. “I do think that that part of things had a little bit to do with [the trade],” Nimmo said. Additionally, Nimmo tended to always make sure his voice was heard at meetings and could go on for a while, and it was felt at times that it was all too much. To which, Nimmo said, “I did talk a lot at meetings. Maybe that was part of it, too. I heard that.” It is all petty in the big picture, but in the claustrophobic everyday-ness of nine months living together, small things tend to fester and grow, especially when a team is losing and there is a vacuum in leadership.

A new reason why the Mets traded Brandon Nimmo has emerged. Apparently, Nimmo couldn't STFU sometimes.
