I watched Peking Opera Blues for the first time last night and it’s one of the coolest films I’ve ever seen. Everyone should go and buy Arrow’s new 4K UHD, not just for the film, but the new translation by @dylancheung.bsky.social, which is one of the best I’ve ever seen (and want to discuss).

Absolutely. They make it sound like Dylan's original translation is much harder to follow when it's actually not.

First-time viewers should in my opinion ignore the advice in the booklet and select the alternate subtitle track.

Arrow Video release of Peking Opera Blues on UHD. As a first-time viewer who knows a little bit of Cantonese, I'll probably watch it with the alternate subtitles.

In the theatrical version of Your Name, Taki travels to the Hida region on Wednesday 19 October 2016. The date got changed to October 21 in the home video version. Can't have Taki skip half a week of school I guess.

Yeah. The best part is that it's the theatrical version before the home video version corrections. Theatrical version was previously only available as crappy re-encodes of the screener DVD.

Worst packaging job I've had so far from CDJapan. Had they changed the orientation, the item would not have come close to touching the box surface.

DCP is the original theatrical version.

The theatrical version has errors that were fixed in the home video release.

What appears to be a Swedish DCP of Your Name, dated March 28 2017. I wonder if it's the original theatrical version.

About 8 seconds of shots with and without corrupted frames in the John Wick 3 opening scene were re-encoded and spliced in the Japanese UHD encode. Base layer bitrate is slightly higher as a result (47603 kbps vs 47601 kbps). Spanish UHD is 47601 kbps, so it should also be affected.
