Flight of the Ladybird
I know when they unfurl their wings it looks awkward but I’m not sure if some of this awkwardness is down to rolling shutter in the camera as this looks totally wrong lol. Nice to see a view from above though.

I get just as excited as a birder when I realise that I’ve shot a new species that I haven’t before. This hoverfly is Cheilosia bergenstammi a type of Blacklet.

My first proper test in the sun for an hour yesterday with my new 50-200mm f2.8 on the OM1 mkii. To say I’m impressed with the lens and teleconverters combined for all around wildlife is an understatement but I’m really pumped for the macro flight capabilities 😍👌🏿

I know people hate teleconverters but I am I true lover of them when the time is right for them 👌🏿

My first bee of 2026 (25.02.26)
Along with 2 or bee and 3 butterfly species along with what would have been my first ever weevil in flight but just missed the focus. Lovely to see what a tiny bit of sun in England can do ☀️

That tail.
I really need to push myself to get closer to this Gasteruption Jaculator so I can get more of the face but it’s so tempting to get everything including the ovpositor in as well, think of it like intentionally clipping the wings of a bird lol.

Did you know the Ivy bee was only recorded in the UK in 2001?
Colletes Hederae is a solitary bee that emerges between September and November to coincide with the flowering ivy hence the name Ivy bee.
