When I was a content moderator for a large social website there was often actual images of children being sexually abused that needed to be reported to the authorities.

Our queue for those reports included THOUSANDS of “loli/shota” art that delayed us getting to the real harm for days at a time.

No matter how gross the art is, it’s not CSAM. I know it’s vile. I know your want everyone to know how gross the person who made it is.

But when you intentionally mix up these terms you harm actual children by diverting attention and resources away from material that exploits them.

Once again begging people to stop using the term CSAM to refer to content that does not include images of real children or their likenesses.

The whole reason we have that term is to identify content that features actual children so the appropriate steps can be taken.
