And some great short stories- Muriel Spark, Flowers for Algernon, Alan Spence. We were also lucky enough to get a talk from the late great Iain Banks.

In Scotland in mid-90s we did Sunset Song, Of Mice and Men, Lord of the Flies, Streetcar, Chaucer, Macbeth, poetry by Larkin, Heaney and Edwin Morgan. Best part were coursework essays where we could choose our own books. I did Gibson’s Neuromancer and Mocking Bird/Beloved Country/Wright’s Black Boy

Glad to hear it- first and favourite book I studied at Glasgow Uni and then got to explore Park Circus and all the Glasgow locations that didn’t make it into the film. Alasdair Gray Archive have made a good study guide: www.poorthingsnovel.com
