๐Ÿ“ฃ Are you an ECR looking for work in conservation or ecology research? I've created a feed to track opportunities here ๐Ÿ‘‡

The feed is tracking mentions of "postdoc" or "research fellow/associate", and "biodiversity", "conservation", "ecosystem", "ecology", or "landscape" ~with varying success

Gave the last talk of my PhD at #ESAus2024 on target-based compensation for achieving #biodiversity net gain on Tuesday. In short: only feasible in a few ecoregions with nickel mining in Indonesia, and expansion in the most mined area globally not compatible with 50% intact forest retention ๐Ÿฆค๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Great talk just now by @tomlloydnature.bsky.social on target-based compensation. Really interesting framing to inform where compensation is feasible (or not) for net gain outcomes. #ESAus2024

Antarctic Beech trees and mossy boulders on a misty mountaintop

>47,000 tree species were recently added to the IUCN Red List, with 35% assessed as threatened. There's still another ~26,000 to assess, ~1/3 of which remain undescribed, but great to see plants getting more #conservation attention๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฆค๐ŸŒ
