Top right: describing the symbol taking up Kraw’s left shoulder: A Fathom Star, the main trapping mechanism used by some elite mermaid hunters. These can be passed down through families and hold a lot of cultural importance, even tracing back to Yvishnir imagery. Bottom right, describing the mark on the left side of Kraw’s chest and up his neck: Marigold, the name of Kraw’s boat, after his adoptive mother, Mayv. They were her favorite flower.

I gave Kraw some scarification. I didn’t feel like he’d be able to do regular tattoos with his seal-like skin/fur, plus I like to think scarification has more cultural significance to him.
