Fifty years after the Moorgate Tube disaster, one question remains It was the worst crash in London Underground history, killing 43 people in a storm of metal. Was it suicide?

50 years ago today, a tube driver went to work with £270 in his pocket, which he said was to buy his daughter a car.

A few hours later, 43 people were dead after that same driver careened into a wall at Moorgate station.
