I went to a private school, which you'd expect to be friendly to that narrative, especially in Texas, and even moreso one founded by a former member of the Hungarian resistance.

Nah, it's just usually too small to notice. Just like most real traffic cones have that reflective texturing on them, you just don't usually notice it unless you're shining a light at it or looking really closely.
