Definitely a Moyes type of striker and I've no issue with any players who have 'flopped' at a spendthrift Chelsea.

Yes. Golf course, caravan park, dunes, beach. And Culbin Forest for the longer walk.

Originally it was abject misery & missed opportunities. It quickly became joy and triumph and reverted back to misery!

I don't miss the train to Glasgow when they were at home. The bigotry, sectarianism, the Buckfast & the try-hard all in black 'ultras'...
In my London days I was in the EFC quiz team. We played them and they were sour-faced buggers. Played Celtic & we voided the match & got roaring drunk instead!

Who can forget McKenzie's penalty miss and the instant grumbling of the Everton Da's 'here we go, that's it, now we're going to blow it!'

Sean Dyche Sacked: Why Modern Football Passed Him By Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest spell ended with a familiar sound: the thud of a door closing just as the excuses began warming up.

Excellent article on Sean Dyche. One of the best I have read on him. Absolutely nails it. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

'Dyche never merely managed, he narrated'. The best line on Dyche, in the best article on Dyche, which completely nails him.

They went for Slot, no idea if they were interested in him. I suspect there's plenty of good managers who wouldn't touch Chelsea, Spurs or Utd right now. If he's as good as some say he is, he may swerve those three and go outside England. Unless we go after him!

A discerning, savvy manager might look at Chelsea, Spurs & Utd and think 'Im not going there with that lot in charge!'

You're right. Nobody really knows how anyone will do till they're in the hot seat. And every case has its own set of variables, so it's hard to compare. All a club can do is have a reasonably consistent recruitment policy (which will include mistakes)and rely on instinct for managerial choice.

This is the issue for the owners. Do they give Moyes a big transfer budget, or do they go for a more 'progressive' manager? Potter, Amorim & Frank are all 'more progressive' but are all now unemployed. Couldn't make the step up? Victims of basket case clubs? Could do better at EFC?
Tough call.

Football must reject Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s cynical, self-serving electioneering | Barney Ronay Tax exile has already proven himself a terrible club owner; now his ill-informed diatribe about immigration has poured fuel on wider flames

Wonderful piece by @barneyronay.bsky.social that nails it regarding the Man Utd part-owner.

All 3 Cup Finals 84-86 there was one turnstile in the EFC end taking money to let folk in. In the 85 final I think there was at least 120k inside Wembley.
