Orbán has been representing Russian interest since 2010, it just got more obvious since '22. It's always been a "mutually beneficial relationship": Orbán is Putin's man in the EU & US (yes, Orbán has a very strong lobby in the US far right) and Putin assists him getting rich & staying in power.
