Was at the Graymalkin Lane podcast retreat last week, talked about the X-Men, did a PowerPoint about lesbian vampires, and stayed in the hot tub for as long as I humanly could. I'm not in any photos though because I'm the photographer lmao. The trip is over but the group chat continues ❀️

The Senate bill is rooted in the idea that we just need to get BP/ICE "back to" only terrorizing people we deem worthy of being terrorized, and not White people. The exact problematic understanding people have been trying to warn against... While a lot of White people insisted that concern was silly

Are Americans β€œdivided” or is a cruel and ruthless minority of Americans attempting to kill as many other Americans as it takes to further gain and entrench their power

I'll be living in Milwaukee starting April Fool's Day. I have a temp sublet but I'll be looking for a place to live for me/my pets and also a job, so that's slightly nerve-wracking. But let's not stress about that yet, it's two months out and there's much to stress about in the meantime πŸ˜…

Every social theory undergirding Trumpism has been broken on the steel of Minnesotan resolve. The multiracial community in Minneapolis was supposed to shatter. It did not. It held until Bovino was forced out of the Twin Cities with his long coat between his legs.

The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesiveβ€”because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about β€œWestern civilization,” while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significantβ€”though not finalβ€”victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call β€œsymbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Damn, that's rough. Sal Buscema was that guy. One of those Spider-Man artists that I read pretty early on in my getting into comics and he really made the character feel next level. 90 years old is a great run, but it always feels too soon. Appreciate the stories, man. Rest easy.

Very sorry this happened, quoting just to add that I'm being totally dead serious that like 20% of my job as a creative over the last couple years is filtering through scam job offers that are getting better and better at seeming legit. Be careful out there πŸ’–

The second is about death in the X-Men and the third is about resurrection and what role those concepts play in the books over the comic's history. Light reading, easy writing! Jk it's hard and it's already taking forever but that's how writing should be. *Glares at ChatGPT* THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE

I've been researching the X-Men zines I'm gonna make for like two years, I'm finally actually starting the writing. It's going to be a series of 3 minimum. #1 will be about the importance of legacy in the X-Men, or Why The O5 Are The Most Messed Up Because They Had The Closest Proximity To Xavier.

Taking photos is political, who and what I photograph is political. Even just walking around and taking photos of the small town I live in is political because they are tied to things that are very obvious here, such as the environmental impact of mining and general small town decay.

26.01.2026 16:43 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

All of my art of any medium is very political, you can't separate stuff like horror stories and superhero comics from politics no matter what anyone says. In fact, those two genres are specifically ALWAYS political. Who or what scares you is political, who or what you see as a villain is political.

Jim Crow, Science Fiction, and WorldCon No black fans had become active to any extent by 1957, but females without brothers or husbands in fandom became more numerous. The one who attracted the most notice was Lee Hoffman, whom everyone …

Thinking about this one, again. Prejudices die hard, and when enforced by law and custom, can be difficult to escape. Even people who think they're smart or progressive are not immune to the cloying attitude of "that's the way it is."

Better worlds don't just happen.

I mean it's great that the "elite consensus" is once again shifting ever so slowly to be anti-Trump, but we can't let these people rewrite history to pretend they were always against this otherwise ALL OF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
