Would it bother you if book 2 in a duology was shorter than book 1?

I ask cuz The Shield Series is a duology and I'm at the end of book 2. Book 1 is ~65k words and book 2 is looking to be closed to 45k. I don't have a relationship to build this time and I don't want to write a bunch of filler.

Why do I write spice-free? Because I want to and it fills a niche.

I don't like spice-free literature being labeled as "clean." Spice isn't dirty or immoral, it's a fact of life. Spicy reads aren't more mature because of their content and spice-free reads don't have any sort of moral claim #booksky

If someone holds beliefs that go against my morals, I don't need their support. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So no, I don't care about my views affecting my "reputation." Books are political. Reading and writing are political. To be silent now (or in support of the current regime here) is to be on the wrong side of history.
