Grappling with authors who's work I appreciated being terrible people has really bent me the last couple years. The hardest being Gaiman, but also Asimov, Heinlein, and now Simmons.

I feel like so many of the cues were simply lost on me as a younger person.

Having only ever read the Hyperion cantos and even that being quite a ways back, I was dismayed to learn this week that Dan Simmons was largely a shitbag.

This wasn't a face-to-face but I've met them all in person before. If I read the room correctly, half the board wants the organization to hire and build and grow and the other half... isn't interested in that. Guess which half didn't show up lol.
