It is important to make space for joy in our activism. But with so much violence directed at our communities, how do we make space for joy as Black people and people of colour?

Join us for a group discussion on joy, at our next Abolition in Practice group session on the 9th February at 12pm (UK)

How do we tell our own stories and build our own cultural archives when so often institutions exclude us from the spaces where cultural history is preserved?

Mahasin Ahmed writes about what they have learnt about archiving, and how they are using those lessons to better tell their own story.

Lets look at abolitionist approaches to conflict. How do we respond to our rage in navigating injustice? What is useful about transformative approaches to justice, and what feels hard about them?

Join us on 10 November at 12pm for this free session: synergiproject.org.uk/event/abolit...

β€œI’ve gained a deeper understanding of how the structures and designs that people look to for support fail racialised communities.”

This is why spaces by and for Black people and People of Colour are so important.

Reads: Many Black and Global Majority people are afraid and feeling anxious. Our sense of safety has been rocked by this weekend’s far right marches.

We’re seeing the rise of the far right, and their rhetoric increasingly becoming mainstream. We are seeing policing treat pro-Palestinian protesters more harshly than far right racist protestors. And existing as a Black person or a person of colour in this reality is in itself traumatising.

Reads: These events have a detrimental impact on our mental health. But the systems as they exist are not prepared to help Black and Global majority people process the trauma of systemic racism.

Hold your communities close, talk to each other to help heal the pain, and organise spaces for healing. We move through spaces where sharing our experiences and feelings around racism is dangerous, so find those spaces where you can be yourself.

This weekend's far right marches will have been triggering and traumatising for many Black and Global Majority people. In times like these we need to hold our communities close and take care of each other.
