12.09.2025 14:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Well voter records seem to show that Charlie Kirk suspect Tyler Robinson was unaffiliated but his parents were registered Republicansโฆ wonder how this plays into the โletโs get revenge on Democratsโ rhetoric?! ๐ค
12.09.2025 14:07 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1There are far too many possibilities that remain open until the shooter is actually caught. I doubt it was a disgruntled liberal (or even a disillusioned MAGA who now feels scammed) though, it seems too professional, targeted and strategic to simply be someone who didnโt like what Kirk was saying.
11.09.2025 11:38 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I donโt think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make whatโs happening now look like childโs play. And people are disappearing.
Remember the maths (math if youโre American) of resistance.
3.5% of the population need to actively dissent to succeed
US population is 340 million so that is 11.9 million people.
With 2,000 #nokings protests planned, an average of 6,000 protesters per protest would achieve the numbers needed
Donโt worry, the world seesโฆ In fact, weโre probably seeing a much clearer picture OUTSIDE the USโฆ the images being shown in UK media all show this for what it is - an authoritarian regime turning the military on its own peopleโฆ

05.06.2025 17:21 โ ๐ 4322 ๐ 1128 ๐ฌ 163 ๐ 115Sorry, I didnโt mean to imply you had said that. Just clarifying that he isnโt being sued (which usually is resolved by a financial settlement
). It will of course be VERY interesting regardless
Hopefully much longer - June 13 is just the plea hearing. If he pleads guilty, he will likely be sentenced to 2+ years and if he pleads not guilty then they may keep him in until trial (which will be months away). Even if bailed, there will be strict conditions.
Settling out of court not an option
No - itโs a criminal prosecution so charges are being brought by the Crown Prosecution Service and not the victim (so he canโt pay anyone off). They wanted to deal with it at the time but he left the UK and went back to the US to dodge the charges (but they were waiting for him to return)
19.05.2025 13:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Of course, like everyone Chris Brown deserves his day in court and it will be a jury that ultimately decides whether he is guilty or not (unless he pleads guilty himself)
All the outcry has made it clear how different the US and UK systems are. Money and fame wonโt buy freedom here 11/
The victim canโt โdrop the chargesโ or โsettle out of courtโ. This isnโt a civil matter, itโs a criminal one. They have witnesses and CCTV evidence lined up. this isnโt the victim vs CB, it is the CROWN vs. CB.
And the CPS ONLY bring cases if they have the receipts and think they can win 10/
GBH with intent is a SERIOUS CHARGE - it is only just below attempted murder. If found guilty, he will most likely receive a prison sentence of 2+ years which he will need to serve IN THE UK. Once released he would then be deported to the US and likely not allowed back. 9/
19.05.2025 10:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0He wonโt get โhouse arrestโ or the opportunity to do his time in luxury in a hotel or similar, On remand he will treated like other prisoners (though they will likely watch him very closely as his high profile would make him an alluring target to other inmates) 8/
19.05.2025 10:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0At that hearing, a decision will be made on whether to remand him in custody again or grant him bail (likely with strict conditions)
The trial wonโt start on June 13 either - but he might enter a plea to the charges. If he pleads guilty, the process will be quicker - a trial will be months away 6/
The reason the UK media is saying โallegedlyโ in reports isnโt them casting doubt on anything. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty - the allegedly will only be dropped if he is found guilty or pleads guilty
Next - June 13 is not his โrelease dateโ, that is the date of his next hearing 5/
Iโve seen people asking why they havenโt seen the CCTV of the attack if it exists. This will not be released to the public until AFTER it is shown in court. in the UK, people are tried by the court system and not the media. Releasing it would prejudice his chance of a fair trial 4/
19.05.2025 10:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thereโs no โstatute of limitationsโ on crimes like this. If there is evidence you committed a crime, you can bet you will have to face it at some point if you return to the UK. Extradition from the US is a lengthy complex process so the UK just played the long game and waited for him to return 3/
19.05.2025 10:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Whether you get bail is up to the magistrate or judge and depends on whether you are deemed to be a danger or a flight risk. Given that CB was meant to face this back in 2023 but FLEW BACK TO THE US instead means they canโt trust that he wonโt leave the country again if they grant him bail 2/
19.05.2025 10:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโve seen SO MUCH confusion from Americans about the Chris Brown arrest and how the UK criminal justice system works. Iโm not a lawyer but I was a court reporter for many years so letโs clear some stuff up:
You canโt pay your way out of prison here. Paying for bail isnโt a thing like in the US 1/
OH COME ON!! I expected more from The Independentโฆ
Chances are not โslimโ that a thrice-married non-Catholic who has probably never even sat through an entire mass without falling asleep could be elected Pope.
This is insanityโฆ I do like the very appropriate ad placement though
And yet the right constantly claim it is โwokeโ or โleft-wingโโฆ
I think in their attempts to seem โimpartialโ, they are making terrible editorial decisions. We need to stop sane-washing authoritarianism
Come on BBC, you can do better. Stop normalising this insanity. You cannot equate Trump sharing an image of HIMSELF as Pope to Biden making the sign of the cross at a pro-choice event. They are NOT THE SAME. If youโre Catholic and also MAGA, now is the time to choose - you cannot be both
04.05.2025 10:59 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0No and definitely no.
But also Iโd be shocked if any non-cardinal was ever elected Pope - it would make no sense at all.
Iโm also pretty sure you canโt juggle being the Pope with another job. Itโs kind of a full-time thing ๐๐๐
The fact he even wants to be Pope shows he is deep into dementiaโฆ I canโt imagine him enjoying it. Heโd have to swap golf and Mar-a-Lago for celibacy, The Vatican, regular confessions and saying massโฆ I doubt he could even recite the Lordโs Prayer never mind the Apostleโs Creed
03.05.2025 08:56 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If this doesnโt switch off his Catholic supporters, nothing willโฆ
03.05.2025 08:47 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So now he admits borders are โartificially drawn linesโ, is he going to tell ICE to stand down? ๐ค๐ค
Thought notโฆ
When people learnt about the Holocaust and the Second World War at school, most people imagined if they were there, they would have been part of the resistance and certainly not one of the perpetrators. In reality, the majority are bystanders - ignoring what is happening now is a deliberate choice
