it’s literally just so they can choose if they want to read the fic based on their preference. ur "warning" doesn’t state what’s in the fic, it just tells the reader that the author thinks they’re better than other ppl for being above t/b preferences .

or u can just tag it properly. if i tag my fic w some vague, quirky warning like "not for those who don’t like kinks sowwy >_<", it doesn’t tell the reader what kink is in the fic, therefore the person can’t choose knowingly. no one is traumatized by a character potentially bottoming

the tagging system isn’t for those kinds of "warnings" or dni. i can’t choose if it’s not properly tagged w who bottoms 😭 it’s not entitled to expect proper tagging, its literally the point of ao3. it’s not tumblr.

then they can go use wattpad or tumblr . ao3 has a tagging and filtering system. if u don’t want to use it properly then why even use ao3 ?

or u can just use the tagging system properly so ppl can also use the "exclude" filter properly. if someone only excludes bottom geto for example and ur untagged fic has bottom geto in it then it will still show up for them but untagged…

bc it’s clearly stated in the tags so if they clicked on it despite not liking this characterization, then it’s 100% their fault. however, when it’s not tagged, ppl can’t make that decision by themselves bc they don’t know that information. u can’t get mad at ppl for clicking a fic w something

yeah but tagging properly is good fandom etiquette. if u can tag everything else in ur fic, u can tag that. ppl wanting proper tagging IS so they can open the link knowingly 😭 u cant open it knowingly if its not properly tagged
