Well, after I was able to reboot, log in to the launcher, 2FA my account (twice - it didn't like the first code it sent me) and pass the captur (again, twice - stupid 3s and 8s).
This amount of chicken sacrifice required is particularly trying...

And the thing is, this is just the installer!
Who knows what hellish eldritch rituals one must perform to actually run the game itself?

Driver and firmware are both up to date - no joy.

It's an error code 5021, a cursory Google of which suggests that editing the registry is the way to go.

My days of trying to configure HIMEM.SYS just to run Falcon 4.0 with network AND sound drivers are long gone.
You need me to manually edit important system files just to install your game? That's a step too far my friend.

I had another look at Star Citizen the other day. Or, at least, I tried to. It fell over at the installation phase with a cryptic error.
One that, apparently, requires you to go into the registry and fiddle with some numbers.

I accidentally blew up a raider (they got too close to the Bombardier I just Deadlined) and, despite de-fibbing the guy afterwards, I think I've been shunted to the Bad Matchmaking.

… and it is cursed

Spent all day on this horrible bug that meant my health bars weren't working properly.
Well, they were in a test scene - just not in the main game. Turns out it was 'just' a duplicate script on a different part messing everything up. GRRR! #gamedev

It's usually after you've spent you hard-earned cash on their latest game so that you can speak knowledgeably about it during the interview itself too.

It's a stressful game - good stress, but stress nonetheless.

I've been playing so much Arc Raiders recently that I'm getting concerned that, in the real world, I'm going to acknowledge a friendly greeting with "Hey, Raider!" instead of something like "Hi" or "Hello".

It was an awful lot of poking TBH

So we did everything with the forks. Cutting the scone in half? Fork. Dollop of cream? Fork. Spread the jam? Fork. It took maybe a little longer than it would otherwise (esp. cutting) but otherwise it worked fine.
Underated utensil.

One summer, @ikouyo.bsky.social and I decided to have an impromptu cream tea picnic. So we popped into the nearby M&S, got scones, raspberry jam and mascarpone (we were improvising - they had no clotted cream). We didn't have any cutlery at all, but they had forks.
