Early versus deferred use of CDK4/6 inhibitors in advanced breast cancer - Nature The phase 3 SONIA trial challenges the benefits of using cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 inhibitors as a first-line compared with second-line treatment.

The SONIA trial is out in Nature! This sequence study suggests:

🌀 Not all patients w/ HR+/HER2- mBC need CDK4/6i in 1L.
✅ Delaying CDK4/6i achieves similar long-term outcomes with:
• Lower costs 💰
• Less toxicity ⚠️
• No loss in QoL.

The debate is far from over, but can’t be ignored.
