Hello friends! I just want to take a moment to acknowledge that I have decided to run for Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board District 4 commissioner. Over the upcoming days, you’ll be seeing more from me about my goals and positions and where we as a community go from here!

It was disappointing the amount of time we had to spend arguing over whether we should have bathrooms at parks (in this case, around Cedar Lake)

I walked by Painter Park earlier today, and I thought about how well that Park seems to be as a gathering place.

I enjoy seeing people skateboarding there or just hanging out.

I believe all parks (especially regional) should have features needed to be comfortable and wanted there.

Having served on a Community Advisory Committee, I think a lot about how we need parks to be a third space for everyone in the community.

Too many want parks to be an extension or their backyard and not something for visitors outside the city or even the neighborhood to enjoy.

The commissioners were elected in 2021 under the old maps. I think that's why those are on the website.

I wonder if they haven't updated them since the commissioners are still serving those boundaries?

I'd imagine someone would be a ways above $200k before this tax takes effect, especially if they have kids or contribute to a pre-tax retirement account.

It also happens where one government controls the arterial and doesn't want to install bike infra because a nearby street run by a different government has "adequate" infrastructure
