for my ENG 490 class!
The use of sounds/music (how it muffles, randomly gets louder etc.) around each kill so far has been interesting to say the least

I thought it was cool how the lighting went from blue when she was walking by herself to a more orange/red once it was revealed that man was following/chasing her
#BSUENG490
what me locking in looks like atp
#BSUENG490
I also thought that the symbolism of birds killing the snake in the first story was really interesting. Kind of like we talked about in class, I liked how the authors used this sort of role reversal between the snakes and birds and how they interact in nature in their writing.
#BSUENG490
The dialogue at the beginning of this story with the husband really set the tone for what the rest of this reading experience would be like. Donna experienced so many mental and physical tolls constantly throughout the story.
#BSUENG490
I thought that the premise of "Precious" was really unique and it caught my attention pretty quickly. I really enjoyed the ending and the last few lines.
#BSUENG490
Neither of these stories went in the direction that I thought they were going when I first started reading. TI also thought the ways birds were used in βSnakeβ was really interesting.

"Binti, you will forever hold the highest honor among the Meduse. My destiny is stronger for leading me to you." Page 82

"There are very real differences between us of race, age, and sex. But it is not those differences between us that are separating us. It is rather our refusal to recognize those differences, and to examine the distortions which result form our misnaming them and their effects..."
#BSUENG490
The descriptions of the setting and almost every little detail were really interesting to me. I've not read a lot of sci-fi but I still feel like this genre has a lot to offer. I'm intrigued to see where the rest of this shorter novel will go and what will happen if she gets to Oomza
#BSUENG490
Woah the father reveal was crazyy, that entire reveal scene was wild π

"People tend to judge themselves and measure their worth based upon an intersubjective, sometimes impossible reality... Identity, self-worth, and confidence depend on whether he accepts, conforms to, or relies on the social norms." Page 133

βI asked him an ripped open the buttons of my top so he could see the tiny mike clipped to my bra, the wire running down into the white pad of the bandage.β Page 329

There is tension quite literally everywhere in these chapters :O
I think it's really interesting how Daniel has been testing Cassie/Lexie to see where she might slip up
#BSUENG490
The ways that Cassie is getting defensive while on the phone with Frank and Sam is very interesting π Seems like she is getting pretty invested in this, especially with the secrets she is keeping from them as well. The dynamics are pulling her in.
#bsueng490
It was interesting to see Cassie really begin to step into Lexieβs whole world and how she says that it feels like somehow that she had been there before. The ways that she felt memories through more than one is her senses almost immediately stood out. #BSUENG490

So far, I think that this novel is pretty interesting. I'm really enjoying the ways that the character dynamics are implemented into the story and the uniqueness of each character as well. I think that the story taking place in the early 2000s is cool too.
#BSUENG490
This was such a strong connection to make! After finishing the novel, it really feels like you were spot on about the idea of them connecting and morphing together as a more singular entity. They have such an interesting relationship.
#BSUENG490
Seeing some more of Ada's perspective was really interesting towards the end of the novel, especially in chapter 19.
Lines like, "Honestly, Yshwa, I just want to rest" and "Try a god, I should have told him, they like when you run to them" really caught my attention.
#BSUENG490
"I was impressed. It was nice to be seen. None of them could save Ada, sha. She was done for; she was mine." Page 169

βThe cyborg skips the step of original unity, of identification with nature in the Western sense.β Page 345

βThey were balanced nowβthe Ada, her little beast, and her saintβthe three of them locked in marbled flesh, burning through the world.β Page 126
The dynamics between the three (Ada, Saint Vincent, and Asughara) were really interesting to me

βMy suggestion is that the body becomes its gender through a series of acts, which are renewed, revised, and consolidated through time.β Page 484

"We made her ours in many ways, yet we were overwhelming to the child. Even though we played curled and inactive inside her, she could already feel the unsettling our mere presence caused." Page 15
This quote + chapter two in general helped me gain more interest and understanding. #BSUENG490
Anna's backstory and what Pat did to her is so sad.
So many adults failed Anna before Lib was eventually able to fulfill her plan and get her out :(
#BSUENG490
"Released from her pain meant she'd died, Lib realized. Only in Ireland would this count as a happy ending." pg. 188

"Solid, even though it's described as a dew?"
"And it was like coriander seed, white, and the taste thereof like to flour with honey."
"And the children of Israel ate manna forty years."
