In most places detailing someone out to another team will get the lowest performers sent away from the core team unless it has a clear and immediate payback for the lending team.

I've been in the military, where we were occasionally asked to provide liaisons to other units. Most units would send the person they were happy to get away from the unit. Very rarely would a leader send their absolute best because they had to operate on their own and it was the right thing to do.

My daughter has a tentative diagnosis and I have attended several classes and thought "oh, that sounds like me" either now or as a kid.

My very personal experience is that all those breadcrumbs are distraction landmines. But that might be another sign I should get my maybe ADHD diagnosed and treated.

An analogy came to mind when reading it: if the cloud is feudalism, self hosted is sustenance farming.

There are certainly folks out there who have talked about the gaps, but as a society it feels like we are having our find out phase similar to the Equifax or Target breech in cyberspace.

Which is to say that maybe no one is good at building defensible systems on purpose. We all try, we write laws and specify where and who can sue.

We build applications and apply security best practices. But we can't know how it will work in the world until we are tested.

A lot of the administrative state accepts the idea that Congress could paint with a broad brush and the executive branch would follow the spirit of the law. Now we have an executive maliciously reading the text for loopholes like a hacker trying to find holes in your API authentication.

None of this is an apology for the tech industry's failings. But it is interesting to see the legislature, which has absolutely lambasted tech for building products that enable societal harm and abuse, discover that many of the laws passed in the last 250 years are also cannot stand up to bad actors

Do you think that this represents them picking someone for ideology or failure to find someone with experience? I don't expect that someone of so little experience is going to generally win in court against the much better lawyers they are about to harass.
