Blind Dad of 2 Is Found Dead After Being Released by Border Patrol and Left to Find His Way Home 5 Miles Away Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a refugee from Burma who was visually impaired and spoke limited English, was found dead on Tuesday, Feb. 24 in Buffalo, N.Y. after he was dropped off at a coffee shop by Border ...

This is truly some of the meanest shit I’ve ever heard of and I firmly believe the intended this to end with his death

The Rohingya have already survived one genocide, one driven by lies spread on Facebook. The horror show is now continuing here.

To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.

The reason you can’t give a single inch on anything be it trans rights or dignity for unhoused people is that they, democrats and republicans alike, will take it and say thanks what else is in your pockets? They won’t say thanks actually.

it took an expensive, coordinated effort & a lot of people saying β€œthis doesn’t matter” to get from a bathroom ban costing one state $400 million & a gubernatorial race to β€œtrans people must turn in their documents which become invalid in a few hours or face fines & potential jail time” in 10 years.

It's Official: the Cybertruck is More Explosive than the Ford Pinto - FuelArc News We now have a full year of data for the Cybertruck, and a strange preponderance of headlines about Cybertrucks exploding into flames, including several fatalities. That’s more than enough data to comp...

Analysis of crash data shows that you're 17 times more likely to die in a vehicle fire if you buy Elon Musk's Tesla Cyber truck than if you had bought a Ford Pinto, the 1970s era car infamous for gas tank explosions in rear end collisions.

ok I'm not into the sports side of things but this IS a fascinating story to me nevertheless. The Boston example is particularly illuminating. Numbers don't mean anything, surely...

Kansas City has projected that 650,000 people will visit for the World Cup.

That means if every seat for every game is used by a visting fan, not a single local attends, there will still be 230,000 World Cup visitors who never go to a game. That's BS! But that number drives spending and planning.

With each passing day I am newly infuriated that national media (and many politicians) bought the Trump regime's lies about a draw down in Minnesota

Hi Bluesky - I'm Massachusetts' Attorney General. You might know me from suing President Trump nearly 50 times, beating Uber and Lyft in court, or being the first woman of color elected to statewide office in MA.

I officially left X today - help me find my MA people?

"Do I need to spell it out for you, why authoritarians might like to know who’s available for kidnapping on a Sunday morning? And with Silicon Valley CEOs showing up at the White House to grovel before the current occupant, do you doubt that Big Tech would sell out any of your neighbors if asked?"

everyone loved the tech industry's free music and friendship machines of 20-30 years ago. it's unclear what could be causing people to feel the opposite about the industry's new racism and insanity machine

Previous generations of rich people knew that it was important for them to shut the fuck up and build libraries and parks and hospitals since that was the only way we would tolerate them in society. This generation of rich people have forgotten why this was necessary. We should remind them.

Exclusive | OpenAI Employees Raised Alarms About Canada Shooting Suspect Months Ago The ChatGPT maker opted against informing Canadian authorities about Jesse Van Rootselaar’s descriptions of violence last June.

OpenAI employees pushed for the company to inform Canadian police about a user they thought would engage in real-world violence months before the person did just that, killing eight people in a horrific attack in Tumbler Ridge.

The company only reached out to police after the shooting had occurred.

Alas, most librarians don't use events like that when making day-to-day collection decisions--and the ones that do probably aren't looking at those publisher booths. It certainly helps the top-line stuff get noticed but it's the mid-range where decisions get harder
