People are way less motivated by a bunch of highly contained and localized fatalities than by the threat of a flashy disaster however rare.

With respect to the grid as a whole, yes.

I truly believe though that it is wholly feasible for rural and many suburban areas to be very sustainable with even "unstable" localized generation.

I'm speaking aside from extended inclement weather or major disasters

Nuclear will be absolutely necessary as a baseline especially for dense metros and industrial regions

But with improving storage and localized small scale generation improving (eg, home solar), I hope we get to the point where most residential grids don't need significant external power.

Kinda funny the Dems did the shutdown largely as a show for the base and now people are madder than before lol

In a healthy democracy, these party leaders would have been out on their asses 20+ years ago instead of just forcing us to watch as they physically rot into decrepitude

While I get the sentiment and I think you should keep that energy up especially regarding the latter half, unlike the GOP I'm not in the business of starving people even if they are corrupt worms

-Cut $1 billion from USDA programs supporting food banks
-Enacted tariffs that have caused food prices to rise
-Made the largest cut to SNAP in history
-Canceled the annual food security survey
