We are sad to hear of Cipriano Vigil's passing.  His passion for #NewMexico folk music and teaching was unmatched. We were privileged to have him as a guest curator for our "Musica Buena" exhibition a few years ago. Sending love to his family and everyone who cherished him.

We are immensely grateful that Ivan is alive as he continues to serve and cultivate his artistic practice. In connecting with him directly, we were honored to share the impact that his work has had on MOIFA's visitors. 4/5

Celebrated Kyiv-based poetess, Lyuba Yakimchuk, whom MOIFA hosted for the exhibition’s closing event, found the soldier-artist, Ivan Markiv, through her network. 3/5

The featured artists ranged from children to soldiers to ordinary civilians, yet one artist remained unidentified throughout the exhibition’s run. He was shown in a video wearing a soldier’s uniform and creating impressive trench reliefs using nothing but a stick. 2/5

“Amidst Cries from the Rubble: Art of Loss and Resilience from Ukraine” brought together a selection of over seventy captivating works, highlighting the profound ways in which Ukrainians transform the remnants of war into powerful symbols of strength and healing. 1/5
