To be clear, the text of the bill would still allow AI to be used by professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc) in their work. It literally just says they can't give professional advice to lay people in a way that would violate the law if the chatbot were a real person.

Expect to see more of this. Arguably it's already illegal for chatbots to provide licensed professional advice, but there a lot of uncertainty and existing enforcement mechanisms can't handle it. So it makes a lot of sense to pass a law that say "yes, chatbot owners are liable for chatbot output."

I don't really think this is *additional* rent seeking on top of what licensing laws already do. It's more preserving the status quo and stopping a loophole.

Arguably most licensing regimes already bar chatbots from giving this advice; from that perspective this just makes it easier to enforce.

Those people have clearly never had to construct a complex boolean string to hopefully capture what they are looking for in an enormous document or dataset. Being able to do a sophisticated search with a simple natural language request is an incredible gamechanger.

Now, if the bot says "I looked but didn't find anything," you still have to verify -- by manually looking through the document, just like you were going to have to anyway. So worst case scenario is it's an attempted shortcut that doesn't work but cost you nothing.

You verify it, of course. Bot says it says XYZ on page 5392, so you go there and check.

Finding things in a long document is one of the good use cases precisely because verification is easy and takes a fraction of the time it would take for you to do the task yourself.

It is true that he has absolutely no real views whatsoever but that's actually really helpful in this situation, because you should take it as a clear sign and a win if someone with no beliefs feels the wind is blowing in your direction.

It could also be a mass formatting done to the body of the text that deleted all of the invisible TOC flags. And yes, one way that might happen is someone was editing it in a different file and then copy-posted their edited version onto the one with the TOC.

I doubt it. You can get the main commercial LLMs to write much raunchier stuff than that. And different task contexts (e.g., "generate a summary of reviews for this product) are one way you can increase the LLM's ability to push the boundaries.

Ultimately I think the availability of sound doctor-managed HRT is an important OPTION because I've heard from too many trans women who are disappointed with their feminization but also insist that they need to follow a doctor's instructions (for various reason, often plain anxiety).

Eventually I found a GP willing to manage my HRT using the newest best practices. How that looks is basically he'll give me whatever I ask for. I do not think this could occur without the informed consent model.

Something that turns me off quickly is whenever sexual attractiveness is treated like an inherent trait of the female body, one that the male body naturally lacks. It just reinforces the idea that women are The Beauty Sex and that men are The Warrior Sex.
