And you might want to check into a sixth grade English class and learn how actual children are able to read text and discern meaning beyond the literal words, which makes you look like a screaming baby right now.

Literally just "I had to struggle so everyone else must, too."

I've lost 25 pounds to go from overweight to healthy weight twice in the last few years. The second one was with GLP-1 assistance. The first one was not better, it was just more miserable and relied on much less healthy tactics.

You'd probably have a better time if you did not stubbornly cling to believing and defending things that are obviously not true in the face of superior evidence and argument.

It is not a reasonable acknowledgment of reality.

Glad we finally cut through this bullshit and really what's happening is you think it's "reality" that sometimes trans girls really are unchangeably male, or that trans girls having an unfair advantage in any sport has been a real problem, ever.

He signed a law to mandate a study on the issue to help consider changing the law.

Which currently requires that trans kids be permitted to participate in sports with their friends and peers.

And Newsom is saying out loud what direction he thinks the law should be changed in.

lol.

Did he used to be on board with the California Democratic Party consensus on the issue? Sure. All that means is this is incredibly stupid if it's just an electoral strategy for a presidential run because it makes him look like a feckless, unprincipled flip-flopper.

30.10.2025 00:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It is not one statement, he has made statements like this one multiple times. He has made similar comments on trans kids' access to healthcare. He also just vetoed a bill on including information about trans people in education. It's not subtle.

30.10.2025 00:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

You are simply wrong. When he says he is "100% with" Charlie Kirk "on the fairness issue," he is saying he thinks it's always unfair.

The context is a specific trans girl who is on HRT and has been transitioning for some time. The implication that she must still have some unfair advantage is plain.

Get better ideas, governor. For example, you have an opportunity to run to the middle and see this man's office, you're talking to me, of all people. So you right now should come out and be like, You know what? The young man who's about to win the state Championship in the long jump in female sports, that shouldn't happen. You, as the governor, should step out and say no.

00:22:52
No, and I appreciate.

00:22:53
But would you do something like that? Would you say no men in female sports?

00:22:55
Well, I think it's an issue of fairness. I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness. It's deeply unfair.

00:23:01
Would you speak out against this young man, A. B. Hernandez, who right now is going to win the state Championship in the long term? I can see you wrestling with it.

00:23:08
No, I'm not wrestling. I'm not relation with the fairness issue. I totally agree with you. By the way, someone with four kids, I think-And two daughters, right? Two daughters. And I have a daughter, too. And a wife that went, God forbid, to Stanford and played on the junior national soccer team, and a guy who got into college only because it was left-handed and could throw a baseball a little bit or hit the ball for a little bit. So I revere sports. And so the issue of fairness is completely legit. And I saw that. The last couple of years, boy, did I saw how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level?

Feel free to give us explanation for what is so obviously "deeply unfair" for a trans girl to play with other girls that does not involve the assumption that she is, in fact, male.

Doubt you'll come up with one.

This is an incredibly common belief, especially among middle aged and older men. Stop bending over backwards to insist the small feathered lake-dwelling bird that quacks is not actually a duck.

29.10.2025 23:39 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

If "compassion" is the only reason he can give for nuance, and in the same interview he talks about how it's obvious common sense that it's going too far to let trans girls play sports with other girls, nothing he says makes sense without the premise that trans girls' bodies are unchangeably male.

29.10.2025 23:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Sort of incredible that we live in a world where the vice president of the United States is just spewing the sort of horseshit that literal children are traditionally taught is wrong

Trans women being super super rare compared to cis women completely dominates this stuff
Cis women with outlier physical features that are "clocky" are ALWAYS going to be more common than us!

29.10.2025 13:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

In the United States, cis women taller than 6 ft significantly outnumber trans woman taller than 6 ft by something like *at least* 6:1 (and that's if you assume transitioned trans women have the same height distribution as cis men, which is certainly an overestimate)

29.10.2025 13:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

If you want to be angry at Democrats for being quiet and not fighting for us harder, you are absolutely justified! Again, I'm just pointing out the Newsom has drifted even further into the moral panic than the average Dem and this is not going to help him in a primary

28.10.2025 20:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

yes, since we're comparing to Newsom or e.g. Seth Moulton, the bar is extremely low (do not agree with Republican positions on trans rights). I hate that the best we can do for "good news" is e.g. Abigail Spanberger being mostly quiet on trans issues, but it could be worse. (I am also trans)

which I guess dampens any optimism this might otherwise provide

Yes! This used to be a thing in Anglo culture too, it just fell out of use once it became uncommon to retain family ties more distant than your grandparents' and their descendants

Using some variation of "aunt" or "auntie" to refer to "literally any woman older than me I have any kind of relationship to" is so common across so many cultures it's just obvious this is manufactured outrage

one of the reasons voters believe the caricatures of the democratic party pushed by republicans is because the democratic party itself believes in the caricatures of the democratic party pushed by republicans

Even in multi-judge appeals courts, opinions are often researched and written entirely by a single law clerk (possibly fresh out of law school!) and then signed off on with only cursory review by the judges whose names who go on the opinion.

28.10.2025 10:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

In the US and I imagine elsewhere this is exactly how the legal system works. Yes, you have to jump through procedural hoops to actually get your case in front of a person, but once it's there is usually one person (possibly not even the judge on your case!) making the substantive decision.

They genuinely thought trans people would go away if a court declared trans women are men and trans men are women (for the purposes of a single statute) and are at a loss that it didn't work
