This is exactly why I haven't truly switched over to bluesky. My personal feed is more full of yapping than news. I know I need to add more people, but...

But one side enables the other, and that renders politics in the US meaningless, currently.

The worst fire disaster at least by property in history and social media is so much more useless than it used to be.

So far, bluesky is a terrible place to get news (as opposed to naked opinions), compared to twitter, need to figure out what's going on...

Another thing that listening to Isaac Meyer does is that it gives me such a strong echo between Imperial Japan's slide into and conduct of the Sino-Japanese War and Israel's current actions in the Levant.

Therefore, the United States is very vulnerable to profound crisis, of which we already are aware of several seeds for--like avian flu, or the debt to gdp, or the climate situation, or the various proxy wars we've got on the stove...

The fundamental bad thing about this situation is that this mimics the end stages of dynasties and empires, wherepon governance is done away from governments, away from specialized beaurocrats and towards tightly held personal networks of people with little sense or expertise.

Sure, Trump is a protected participant through his closeness to the nexus of blackmail politics, and so he holds power. All the same the situation is setup so governance happens well away from public.

The thing about Trump, tho', is that I think he's kind of a potted fascist, same as all the potted leftists and liberals in current discourse that build up a narrative of thought and spend credibility on pro-gov't statement on some controversial policy or another.

So I was listening to some Isaac Meyer podcasts, and they just feel very relevant to US situation... I found his fascism podcasts pretty interesting--Umberto Eco's checklist is pretty damning for Trump politics. It's pretty obvious that Trump politics is a fascist movement.

Gaza was still the single most concrete factor, tho'. And before reading the article, I'm assuming you're only thinking of arabs and muslims who might have defected. It affected way more than just those people.
