Iβve done some catalogue searching and am fairly confident in saying that 5/10 titles in this list do not exist (1, 2, 4, 5 and 7).
Sloppy, unacceptable, and a real kick in the guts to real authors with real books theyβd love people to buy and read!
This is a great example of how genAI steals from us all on multiple levels. It's stolen a promotional spot for real books and authors, it's stolen a job from an actual journalist who could have compiled this, it's stolen an opportunity for parents to be recommended good NZ books for their kids

I've taken part since the early days of it happening on Tw*tter, & even when there was a price limit, some Santas still spent way more money!
I feel not putting a $$ amount on it & encouraging handmade, recycled, upcycled and/or 2nd hand, is good for those who don't have a lot of money to spend β€οΈ

So the main present I sent my giftee for #SecretSantaAoNZ was opened shortly after midnight, but there was an extra bit that had to be delivered today due to perishability π
