Thank you~that was about the time we were at the church. But only saw kites flying...I wonder if we missed the eagle, whilst watching them?!

Do you know what time it was seen please? We were at Aughton today & there was a red kite up, later joined by another.

Please note~having called in today, only members are allowed access to the car park & arboretum, until official opening in Spring ( even though it has an open sign on the main road).

@yorkbirding.bsky.social @northyorksbirds.bsky.social Very hot day at Wheldrake Ings~7 kites up~3 swooping round busy tractors, up to 9 little egrets at Pool hide, 2 buzzards, whitethroat, swallows, blackcap, green sandpipers, sedge & willow warblers, blue tits, kingfisher & lots of grey herons.

A good 2 days, catching up with the peregrine at York Uni & then the US wigeon ( 1 shot of when it wasn't asleep!) & 100s of pink footed geese, plus a bonus white front, at East Cottingwith pond. Thank you to the gentleman from Thixendale for his company & spotting prowess!

Yes Spring can't come soon enough! Glad all is well on the coast. We're plodding on TY~done some birding this week at last, with some rare sunshine. Back 2 grey again 2day. Been fighting a planning application most of Jan~thankfully refused but could appeal. Countryside vanishing under concrete.☹️ xx

Hopefully everyone will move eventually! I'm surprised the RSPB sites haven't set up accounts yet. I hope you're doing ok? Bit nippy for the coast yet for a meet up but not forgotten we need to meet for a coffee! xx
