❗These findings highlight the potential of having polygenic information available and how it could complement traditional risk assessment, offering the opportunity to move us closer to a personalised prevention of HF.

➡️ Importantly, adding the HF PRS to clinical models improved prediction of new-onset HF and provided value across both elevated and low cardiovascular risk populations.

In a pooled analysis of nearly 75,000 individuals, we found that a heart failure PRS was a powerful and independent predictor of new-onset HF—with high genetic risk linked to a five-fold increase in events in patients at elevated cardiovascular risk.

Using data from 2,078,948 participants from 39 countries, researchers calculated lifetime estimates of cardiovascular disease and death from any cause according to the presence or absence of cardiovascular risk factors. Full study results: nej.md/4kS5ZVr
