"We want this to be a welcoming place for people who bring kindness, curiosity, and care."
This is why when @timriley.info asked if @honeybadger.io would be a founding patron of the @hanamirb.org project, I said please take my money.

The Hanami hack table at #BalticRuby was greeted by a familiar face! (And potential new user?)

Let's talk about funny pathologies of the industry and weird f*ckups with Adam Piotrowski. He encourages everyone to prepare your own stories and share them together with him at the event.

We regret to announce that due to personal reasons @adam.eventmodeling.org will not be able to join #wrocloverb this year. We appreciate your understanding.
Meanwhile, let's welcome @pansarin.bsky.social with a talk on multiple bizarre situations in the industry and lessons learned from them π
Are you aware that oldest #Ruby and #rubyonrails conference in Poland is happening in 6 weeks? And most of the speakers are already announced, so there is no point to wait with buying a ticket! wrocloverb.com

There is a 6 minutes podcast that i share with some junior developers once per few months. I figured out i should share it there too: open.spotify.com/episode/5mX2...
Main wisdom of that one: "don't attach emotionally with your code".
Opinionated, yet flexible. I'm a #rubyonrails stan.

So another small startup is using #rubyonrails that doesn't scale?
Oh wait...

@1password.bsky.social good job!!
Black Friday is here - let that globe light up! This time with Shoppy, music, colors of your choice, nerdy stats - with gravity or without!
Bfcm.shopify.com #BFCM #shopify #ruby #rubyonrails
Ugh, I have no idea. That would be a nice statistic.
Although here I am only talking about the ability to read quickly and easily by people.
And I am not sure if we have data for that, but I am pretty sure Ruby is the leader of the "readability of the code" attribute ];
Btw. I created new Ruby on Rails feed for all the RoR folks there that are new in bsky! bsky.app/profile/pans...
let me know what tags i should include there besided #rubyonrails
- Startups can still compete with Goliathsβ#bsky has proven
it.
- Rails 8 introduced so many new awesome tools
Would you pick other language to start your new web-project?
If so - why ?

#ruby #rubyOnRails
#webdevelopment #pickYourTool
Knowing that:
- after recession there are plenty of Ruby devs available
- "Ruby/Rails doesn't scale" is proven not to be valid argument for years already
- It "most readable" language in era of AI-generated code
- Time from idea to "ship it!" is crucial
1/2
Nah, but there is matter of how unreadable it is ;]
17.11.2024 22:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@lucianghinda.com since you are top1 SM creator for Junior devs, I would love to hear your opinion on that take ;]

And which language was originally designed to be as much readable as possible?
How awesome it would be if the same language framework would be also precursor of awesome approach to full-stack #development like HOTWIRE.
We are living in the times when being a #Ruby developer is a great choice.
2/2
For years we already know: #development is mostly reading the code. And a little bit of coding.
Now AI will generate some new / boilerplate code.
So we will have to read even more often (especially that we have double check the quality of ai-generated code).

Hello world!
