More than one in four people on Prince Edward Island do not have access to a primary care provider. The problem is most acute here but it affects millions of people across the country. It's our focus on Cross Country Checkup and The National from Charlottetown today.

When I was asked to host a conversation with Canadian best selling author Louise Penny at UBC's Chan Center, my only request was she do an interview for the Sunday National. Fortunately she agreed and it was terrific. It's on tonight and then will be posted online.

Did you listen to the show? Did you hear the voices who spoke so candidly about addiction? There was nothing remotely MAGA about anything I said. I'm so tired of the exaggerations on social media. It's the opposite of what we do on Checkup.

Every once in a while, I will respond to a particularly inexplicable insult. In what possible way did Sunday's Checkup make me a "talking head of the MAGA movement?"

Best part of a road trip is the random stops to discover things like the Brooks (Alberta) Aqueduct. Also appreciated the candid historical description at the site of the impressive but imperfect engineering behind it.

It's always nice when good news makes the headlines and the story of the missing three year old in Quebec has had, in the words of the SQ spokesperson "the best possible outcome". It is our top story on CBC News Network at 7 and 8 eastern and we expect more details from police.

"It is hard to make sense of something so senseless". Interim Vancouver Police Chief updating last night's terrible tragedy. Says 11 people killed and that number may rise. Driver has history of contact with police and mental health history. Crown has not yet laid charges.

Have you listened to our show before? When have we fallen short on a serious topic?

There have been a few times when Checkup has been hammered on social media for a program we haven't done yet. I'm in a show meeting right now. The gap between what's being posted and what we're actually planning is enormous. Our regular listeners should expect the same care we use for every show.

The Prime Minister, among others, has said we should take these threats seriously. Why shouldn't we hear how people are reacting to this?
