So sorry to hear this, for that doctor and for your family. My 81 year old mother no longer has access to a family doctor; the hoops she has to go through at her age, to receive basic medical care, is ridiculous and cruel, frankly.

Update: ME refuses to pay our invoice. Colour me shocked.

Cool. My body thinks 4am is a good time to wake…despite not letting me fall asleep until after 12. Blerg.

My kids did not wear pink to school today, and I did not remind them it was Pink Shirt Day. My controversial take: It's a crap day—means absolutely nothing, just performative nonsense. When it comes to dealing with *actual* bullying, schools show time and time again, they don't walk the talk.

If the trial of those Canadian Junior players didn't turn you off hockey culture...well, first, why not? but second, what's happening now should. There is so much toxicity—racism, sexism, and big egos permeate the NHL and it trickles down to all the leagues. Support the PWHL. THEY deserve it.

Today is my youngest's 13th birthday, and it's a storm day for her: What better way to celebrate becoming a teenager than a day to lounge in PJs, watching TV?

Soleil is 100% in the Good Doggo camp. Our other 2 (Stormy/Luna) mostly hang out in the Good Doggo...Sometimes department, and they can absolutely be seen visiting the Not Great Doggo section from time to time, ha ha.

Yes, I have low-sodium options for when she's eating regularly. At the moment, we aren't caring so much about nutrition—she just needs food in her. I was told to give her whatever she'll accept. She needs food in belly to allow for meds.

She is the best. Everyone who meets her loves her. I cannot say the same about our other two pups, ha ha ha. Soleil is the embodiment of an external soul hug.

Braved store traffic for last-minute needs for tomorrow: storm + youngest's 13th birthday. I stood in line at a grocery store (line wrapped to the end of an aisle!) with tulips. Everyone else's arms full of typical storm supplies, and I'm standing there with birthday tulips. Got some fun looks. 🌷

DOG UPDATE: I've managed to get some canned chicken into our under-the-weather doggo, and the pride I feel in that victory is way more than I've ever felt (including running 5 half-marathons). I just need her to be okay because so much is not okay, you know?

About $1K in vet fees later, we appear to be on the road to recovery.

Thank you. She’s almost in remission from chronic leukaemia. Unsure what happened this week to upset her stomach but it resulted in dehydration.

I interrupt your hockey timeline with an update on our sweet pup: The vet called today and after a full day on IV, she’s starting to perk up. Even ate some chicken (she’d been off food since We’d and she’s a lab so that’s a code red signal). Here’s a snap of her, with hot gel packs to warm her up.

Every Canadian right now: me nerves!

Update: we have power restored (yay!), and we’ll be taking our sweet girl into the AVC for 24 hour IV treatment. Not a frugal Saturday, by any means…

A piece of the electrical wire had to be replaced. Okay, great. They come and do that. Now, explain to me like I’m 5 why WE are responsible for electrician’s fee when the responsibility for the power glitch in the first place is with ME? I hate this company. /2

So we had this weird power thing where much of our house was without power. As in, while overhead light worked in kitchen, stove didn’t. None of our heat pumps would work. So strange. We call in an electrician…on a Saturday (so $$$), only to find out it’s Maritime Electric’s fault. 🧵/1

I’m at the vet with a dog who urgently needs IV fluids (likely admitting to AVC) while husband waits for Maritime Electric to show up at our house and explain why 50% of all our rooms have no power. Not quite the way I saw my Saturday unfolding…

My deodorant is not strong enough for this game.
