Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.
Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Sending prayers to her family. She was an extraordinary young woman.
If you havenβt, read her superb essay in @newyorker.com about her journey since her cancer diagnosis. A remarkable person. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
After leukemia treatments failed, Alyssa Tapley, at age 13, was told she would die. Then, doctors tried an experimental gene-edited therapy. She became the first human to try the treatment made possible by U.S. federal funding. Now 16, sheβs cancer-free and planning her future.

21.09.2025 20:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Private equity has no role in healthcare. The Steward Health fiasco should be the only lesson this country needs. Unfortunately, I think this issue will need to be handled on a state by state basis for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully they take FDAs recommendation to enroll more pts at these other dosages this time. Clearly seems to be a drug that would help our pts if we can give it safely.

Data from #ASCO25 showed that Medicaid expansion was associated with improved survival for patients with newly diagnosed cancer. It doesnβt matter what advancements we make if access to care is denied.

In 2023, the U.S. spent approximately $1.35 trillion on healthcare administration. Thatβs more than we spent on:
β’Physician salaries (~$350B)
β’Nursing salaries (~$335B)
β’Retail prescription drugs (~$450B)
β’Imaging, lab tests, EHRs, and outpatient procedures combined

I tell patients and friends/family the same. They can be curable for many patients, but it comes at a high price. Much better to get vaccinated, even if youβre an adult. I got mine in my late 20s.
