14. Persona 3 the Movie 1: Spring of Birth

I'm usually worried when a video game gets adapted to another medium so, colour me surprised. It was pretty nice to see the P3 world again, had some interesting changes to some story moments and there's a handful of baller moments in it.

With Fire Red and Leaf Green on Switch now, there’s probably people playing Pokémon who have never played a classic 2D Pokémon game before, so just some advice: remember that holding down and B when throwing a Pokéball will help increase the odds of catching the Pokémon

The boss using Shock is already a good way to tell the player "Oh, I could just die, huh?"
Along with FFIX punishing under-prepared players through its gear system, I don't see why make it harder?
Those fights show to me that there's more ways to grow stronger (both thematically and in gameplay).

I think the only reason they tie those skills to reduce HP to 1 is because they would normally cause a TPK otherwise. It would send the message more through its gameplay, though might send the wrong signal that the fight itself feels like an unfair difficulty spike.

I have to disagree on FFIX. What I love about those fights are in lore, the boss you fight has been hyped up to be incredibly capable. This comes into gameplay, where you question if it's possible to win? On repeat runs, I love it encourages using the Steal command to get some nice rewards.

That's not to say I don't like the ones you can "beat" as well. Provided you're given something like an alt cutscene or maybe an item to speed up progression.

Been thinking a lot about forced losses in JRPG's and I like ones that force you to survive within a time limit. The fight becomes less about the aspect of winning or losing and more about "How am I going to keep my party alive?"
Especially if the fight in question was built up to seem impossible.
