I have lived in Mexico for two decades. In that time president Calderón announced a Michoacán plan, Peña Nieto did the same, followed by AMLO.

None of those plans made Michoacán safer, so I'm skeptical about the latest iteration announced by the current administration.

A friend asked me recently why I eliminated my Facebook, Instagram and Threads accounts and why I barely post on other social media anymore.

My partner, who fanatically loves Mary Shelley's novel, did say that she thinks 'Frankenstein' is a brilliant Del Toro film but not necessarily the best version of the Frankenstein story. But that's not really a criticism of the film - she loved it all the same. It's SO good.

My partner and I just watched 'Frankenstein' and I think we can safely say that Guillermo del Toro is incapable of making a bad film even if he tried.

Yearly reminder to all non-Mexicans that the 'Day of the Dead' is 'Día de Muertos' in Spanish, not 'Día de los Muertos'.

Why does it matter? Tell a Mexican you love 'Día de los Muertos' and watch their facial expression, then you'll understand.

My country's head of state is an actual hereditary monarch and he would not be allowed to just demolish a wing of his the palace he lives in.
