as you know, ICE already has a $1 per day voluntary work program. The rate of pay has been legally challenged. How voluntary this program will be remains to be seen. I have no doubt the private prisons and the administration will continue to try to push the envelope.

to discard the likely possibility of creation of a prison labor force is to ignore the history of virtually every regime in human history that has rounded up their particular "other." not to mention the u.s. already exploits prison labor in its non-immigration prisons. let's nip this in the bud now

The White House has ordered the US Dept. of Justice to prioritize denaturalization: voiding the citizenship of US citizens.

Who will it denaturalize? "Any" case that it "determines to be sufficiently important".

In 2016 MN Police killed a Black man named Philando Castile despite him disclosing he had a legal firearm.

Yesterday MN Police released a white woman named Jenny Boelter despite her car full of cash, firearms, & passports hours after her husband mass murdered people & was on the run from police.

If real police can't tell fake police from real police, then how exactly are the rest of us supposed to do it?

The head of the department of homeland security announced that she planned to use military force to take over a democratically elected government in the state of California and we are arguing about whether a California Senator properly identified himself at the door.

In times such as these we can take solace in the fact that we have a president and sec. of defense known for their diplomacy, intelligence, and calm temperaments. And a sec of state known not to back down from the smart choice just to stay in power.

Assaulting a senator - or ANYONE - for asking a question is an outrageous abuse of power. The labor movement fundamentally believes in the right to stand up for justice and defend the rights of workers.

This escalation and persecution of those who peacefully speak out is dangerous and must stop.

One problem for the administration was that ICE had only about 5,000 officers ready and trained to make arrests, according to an agency official. As ICE officers face more threats, they form ever-larger teams to conduct arrests, officials said. Larger teams means ICE can be in fewer places. Officials from the White House and the Department of Homeland Security have made clear there will be consequences for not hitting arrest targets. Top officials at DHS have pushed out one acting ICE director and are threatening a second. Late last month, the top ICE official overseeing arrests and deportations, Kenneth Genalo, resigned rather than fire deputies for poor performance, said people familiar with the matter. One reason deportations haven't picked up might be that ICE operations have received so much attention, prompting migrants to be more cautious, according to agents and leaders.

The White House is demanding that ICE get deportations up, and ordering any career law enforcement who objects to get the hell out of the way.

The head of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal operations apparently resigned rather than obey an order to fire ICE officers who weren’t hitting arrest quotas!

I don't think we all made a collective decision that this is how we want this single misdemeanor offense but no other misdemeanor offense to be treated.

It's a pattern now. We have a secret police and the disappeared. We have black box prisons. It will continue to get worse if we don't collectively stop it.
