What is your excuse for inaction?
Omer Bartov, an Israeli scholar of the #Holocaust and professor of #genocide studies, notes Israel is conducting a genocide in Gaza. In his excellent essay he explains what genocide as a concept means, why Israel's actions in #Gaza meet the definiton and what this means for the future.

IIRC correctly, the fascist was in the news for speaking to the parliament of UKR, then a bunch of people noted Halla-aho is fascist and the Halla-aho got all pissy about it, and reported them for libel---something he said he wouldn't :D
For the record, Jussi Halla-aho is a fascist.
He is a fascist for having been a member of the neo-fascist Suomen Sisu and for calling a military junta to Greece to pull through policies against the democratic process.
And like many fascists, he is a sorry-ass coward too.

This is an important decision: food #couriers in #Finland recognized as employees by the Supreme Administrative Court.
Couriers were overexploited and this decision hopefully improves their situation. However, many couriers suffer from the harsh immigration regime too.

The cover of 'Hard Work' and an endorsement from Dr Sophie Chao (University of Sydney). The endorsement reads: "A true labor of care and creativity, this ethnography promises to become a landmark work in environmental anthropology, political ecology, and Pacific studies."
Tammisto's book 'Hard Work' examines human-environmental relations, value production, natural resource extraction, and state formation within the context of the #Mengen people of #PapuaNewGuinea.

Kerrankin osuin oikeaan :D
Suomessa laki estää aseiden viemisen ihmisoikeuksia rikkoviin maihin, mutta ristiriitaisesti ei estä aseiden ostamista sellaisilta.
Yritetään siis muutta lakia johdonmukaisemmaksi! Sen edistämiseksi allekirjoita #kansalaisaloite #LakiSärmään.

Book cover of 'Hard Work' and a quote from Rupert Stasch, who is Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. The quote reads: "The fate of tropical rainforests is a paramount global concern, and this is one of the best books yet written about how indigenous people themselves think about logging, plantations, and conservation as possibilities for their environment."
'Hard Work: Producing places, relations and value on a Papua New Guinea resource frontier' by @tutam.bsky.social is a great read for anyone interested in the political #economy and #ecology of natural resource extraction.

#kaupunkitila

I say this because I think such history is essential for understanding how politics actually works. I also think that such understanding is much more important than whether or not you hold all the "right" opinions on any given topic.

I really wish more people who consider themselves broadly on the "left" would read history. Specifically, the history of the movements that forged so many of the values now held by the center left.

Dune kakkosta en päässy pelaamaan, mutta katselin kun serkut graindas sitä ja sitten sen moottorille rakennettu Warcraft oli kyl The Shit.
