As I watched my strict mom and dad soften as grandparents, I was reminded that the world does not treat parents gently My parents’ gift of intergenerational childcare for my daughter taught me that people have the capacity to change – but that they need to be freed to be their full selves

Not sure if anyone reads my updates (skeets?) anymore, but here is an essay I wrote recently for @theglobeandmail.com on watching my (once strict) parents becoming gentle grandparents & what I learned from it:

Israel has killed approximately 200 journalists in Gaza in just 22 months, which is more than the combined number of journalists killed during WWII and the entirety of the Vietnam War.

Indian Act's ‘second-generation cut-off’ poses an existential threat to treaty people in Canada Thanks to the Indian Act’s ‘second-generation cut-off,’ First Nations people face a baffling and offensive equation when it comes to their status rights.

The "second-generation cut off" has been described as a genocide “in paper form;" as "an evil that threatens our very existence;" as an act of "retaliation;" as discrimination, and, as assimilation. Yet it remains a part of Canadian law. Why?

Excerpt from Columbia's agreement/bribe to the Trump Regime:

Buried in Columbia's agreement/bribe with the Trump regime (and not reported by the news) is a section which agrees to segregate trans women from women's housing, sports, and bathrooms. Functionally, trans women are no longer welcome at Columbia University.

The Emerging Problem of "AI Psychosis" AI may be fueling psychotic delusions in a phenomenon known as "AI psychosis" or "ChatGPT psychosis." New research explains the risks.

I keep reading stories like this and then want to scream like the one clip I watched where someone just says, what happened to just having a think?!

85% of Gaza’s population have entered the "fifth stage" of malnutrition — the most critical and dangerous phase, which is often irreversible even if food becomes available in the future.

Update — It’s been 15 hours since the Freedom Flotilla Coalition last saw or heard from their friends on board the Gaza Aid Flotilla.

They have not been allowed any contact with them.

Their exact statuses are not known.

Exclusive | HHS to Stop Recommending Routine Covid Shots for Children, Pregnant Women CDC currently recommends that everyone six months and older receive the vaccines

This is a huge massive mistake. Almost two years ago I rounded up all the data we have - and we have A LOT - on why COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy protects both the parent and the child.

#Gaza: The Gaza European Hospital, in Khan Younis, the last facility providing cancer-treatment across the Strip, is now out of service after Israeli forces struck it on May 13.

This was one of the last remaining lifelines in Gaza's shattered healthcare system.
