The public does not know this. They don't realize how the budget at their beloved 🏈/πŸ€ State U works, or that their kids won't be able to take courses/labs they need there anymore, bc they won't exist without federal $ & foreign graduate students.

Maybe someone should speak up about this stuff? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ§

Since the interviewee must remain anonymous, we are now calling this Moynihan's Law:
"The easier a governmental task looks to an outsider, the more likely it has been found to be impossible by many smart people in the past."

Now in press in JERHRE: we considered the ethics of using new tech such as VR in understanding discrimination experiences. We intentionally collected data from research participants, as opposed to imposing researchers’ views to speak for them. Data and materials shared, and study registered.

The β€œdeal” that Brown made with the Trump admin is much more extreme than is being reported. It includes government oversight of course evaluations and no barrier to government interference in faculty hiring.

In the beginning the Bove whistleblowers were spaced apart 24 weeks. Then 12, then 6, then every 2 weeks. In 4 days we could be seeing a whistleblower every 8 hours until they are coming every 4 minutes. We should witness a double Bove whistleblower report within seven days.

Their NIH Grants Are Back. But Nothing Is Back to Normal. Researchers say that picking up where they left off is complicated β€” scientifically, financially, and logistically.

NEW: Their NIH grants are back, but nothing is back to normal.

In June, a judge ordered the restoration of 900+ terminated grants. So how's that going? Scientists say they're happy, but also it's been a bumpy roadβ€”and they're afraid their funds will get cut again. www.chronicle.com/article/thei...

Let's please keep the remaining staff at NIH, NSF, etc in our thoughts even as you lose sleep over your own lab and scientific career.

They are enduring pure chaos to try to hold the fort.

See snapshot from wapo.st/4feKKuu (gift πŸ”—) saying they are "barely holding it together"

BREAKING: Trump wants to illegally cut off $15 billion in lifesaving NIH research.

Research to cure cancer, Alzheimer's, and so much more is on the line.

These people are LYING about waste, fraud, and abuse at NIH to justify attacking medical researchβ€”we all need to say so.

Today #NIH leadership were told no funds can go out for research project grants, R&D contracts or training grants.

We have just a couple weeks to get funds out the door before Russel Vought attempts a #PocketRescission on Aug 15.

Even if this ends up being temporary, it’s time we don’t have.

AI will soon be able to audit all published research – what will that mean for public trust in science? An AI audit of scientific research would likely expose some fraud and widespread inconsequential work. But we need to be careful it doesn’t discredit science in general.

No it won’t.

If you live in Seattle, do not patronize Fremont Brewing.

Their owner, Council President Sara Nelson, is the most callous, manipulative, and just downright awful local politician I've ever seen.

Today she just refused to show up for meeting about renters, preventing a quorum. So disrespectful.

Hey shift workers of Seattle, can you remind city leaders what would happen to you if you were to no call no show and it hindered your workplace's ability to function? Because Sara Nelson just did that to our City Council, and she's up for re-election.

The city's housing committee, headed by Mark Solomon (and previously Cathy Moore), was unable to meet officially today because committee members Sara Nelson and Rob Saka won't go to the meeting, denying the committee a quorum. Saka is currently sitting in his office.

Biking to an express transit route is the ultimate Seattle region transportation hack. By using your bike to skip the local bus and go straight to light rail or an express bus with proper bus lanes, you also cut out a transfer and simplify your time calculation.
