I do actually have Shape of Dreams and do very much enjoy it.

It and the aforementioned games are all roguelikes but I would happily argue that Shape of Dreams belongs to a different category of Roguelikes. It's more of a Diablo like with roguelike elements really.

Hell I wish I could get the 24 hours I sunk into MegaBonk back and the.... 81(?!) I have apparently sunk into Vampire Survivors. Good gods.

I think whatever new Vampire Survivors-like hotness comes out next I'm just gonna avoid entirely. Buh.

Like... I genuinely wish I could refund these games and give the money back to the people who bought them for me cause I feel bad about not liking them in this weird way when they were gifts given to me because folks wanted me to have something fun to do.

Meanwhile I can sink two hours into Megabonk or Vampire Survivors, thinking that I'm actually enjoying myself then turn them off and feel like I just wasted my entire day. Like literally no other games make me feel like that or if they do the feeling of them being a waste of time is upfront.

Somehow the literal gacha games I play on my phone feel less gross? Like I don't really spend money on them, haven't for nearly two years now because money has been so tight, but they actually feel like games first? Which is a weird thing to say about any gacha game.

It just feels like a hollow experience to me, trussed up in the same kind of dopamine tapping nonsense as Vampire Survivors which is the weird ass trappings of a gacha or casino game.

It feels gross.

Well that didn't take long.. I'm already feeling the same way about Megabonk as I do about Vampire Survivors. Any time I play it the amount of time it takes for me to feel like I'm literally wasting time becomes shorter and shorter. And that's not a feeling I enjoy feeling with video games...
