My book buying ban should be over soon so I’ll be able to align more with the months later.

-many and had to deviate from it. March is women’s history month so I’ll have a lot of books by female authors and I have one I’m currently reading that’s super interesting.

I do try to match my reading to the β€œthemes” of the month. So February was when Russia invaded Ukraine so I red at least one book about it, and it is also Black History month so I tried to read the books on my shelves by POC authors. Sadly I realized that due to my book buying ban I didn’t have too-

I also loved how R-Vis got the most information and how it differed from O and L. I’m not too jazzed about the potential romance in L, but we’ll see how it goes. 4.5⭐️ from me. Can’t wait for the sequel.

Then I ended February with The Strength of the Few and I adored this sequel. It was a bit slow at times but I think the introduction of the parallel universe was really well done and I liked the story for each one. I loved how depending on the information Vis got or didn’t get influenced him.

Finally read one of Bindery’s releases Cry, Voidbringer. My review is really contingent on this getting a sequel because that ending killed me. That was a massive cliffhanger for the author to say she might give us a sequel depending on sales from this one. I really hope we get one cause this was 4⭐️

And finally I read one of my Fairyloot books, Seven Deadly Thorns. I was really enjoying this book and the vibes, but then the last 10% took a sharp turn with twists that didn’t make sense and it kinda fell apart and confused me. It also doesn’t explain the secret society or magic at all… 3⭐️

Then Recipes for an Unexpected Afterlife! This was a short and sweet cozy fantasy that had me kicking my feet with how cute it was. 4.25⭐️

Next: The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store. This has been on my shelf for a minute, so I figured it was time to finally read it. Despite this being a historical fiction I really did enjoy this. It was a bit tough at times because this was the 1930s, but I really liked it. 4.25⭐️

Started off the month with some learning: Our Enemies Will Vanish: The Russian Invasion and Ukraine’s War of Independence. This was really educational (albeit dry at times) and it makes me wanna pick up more books about it.

Also I’m very bothered by the fact that she can feel the truth but doesn’t use it right at all. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Overall I won’t be continuing the series.

A lot of the middle could’ve been cut out and I felt like the petty resolution between her and another character could’ve been resolved a lot sooner and they could’ve used their wits for the betterment of the book. A lot of the death at the end was very unnecessary.

The world building wasn’t that great…like I still can’t get over that werewolves are essentially faries mutated by stardust. Also that they need to shower and bath but apparently don’t need to brush their teeth?

-an in between. She’s also really fucking dim at times despite others telling her what to do. Also this is a YA book, she just turned 17 and there’s a very toxic ML with a lot of fade to black sex scenes which was really weird. The content was also very adult despite being written very YA style.

As you can see I got the FL version and I’ll admit I skimmed the summary and bought it because it looked really pretty. I thought this was going to be a girls rise to being Wolf Queen in a poly badass romance. It’s not.

The main girl, Vanessa, is either full of lust or rage and there’s barely-

Back to my physical shelf with Bitten by Jordan Stephanie Gray! I’m gonna go on a bit of a rant up ahead but short end 2.75 ⭐️ from me being generous. #booksky

Again a lot of my reading have been ebooks from my local library since I’ve been on the go a lot. There’s been a lot of things personal and national that have just made it easier to carry my kobo than a physical book.

And I forgot to take a picture before I sold it but A Fate So Cold was next! This was a late Owlcrate book and I was enjoying it until it started to break its own canon towards the end. If it’s available on Libby later on I might read the sequel when it comes out but…3⭐️

Something in the Woods Loves you by Jarod Anderson, I gave this one 4.5 ⭐️ and it’s was inspiring and very motivating to get myself some help for my own depression and anxiety and just…I really loved the essays in this book. It was raw and wonderful.

While I’ve been busy doing what I can in this godsforsaken mess of a government I haven’t stopped reading, so here’s a quick recap of the physical books I’ve read (I’ve been on the move so it’s been a lot of e-books which are listed in my Fable).

I am also read a lot of nonfiction and have read a few already that has been super helpful educating myself, but suggestions are always welcome.

Also authors I should avoid. I sometimes learn about it too late, but I really wanna do better and I’ve been trying very hard but there’s just so much information that I sometimes get confused.

I know of a few companies to boycott that have/still support this joke of an administration, but I know there’s a lot more. Can people just comment on this thread who to boycott and some great alternatives? I’m in TX. I do shop a lot at HEB, but sometimes they don’t have everything I need.
