Sometimes art is just about creating an aesthetic and emotional experience, and sometimes that experience is being horny.

People in the replies trying to litigate this like "well maybe SOME sex scenes are okay if they aren't just there to make people horny" and I am here to say that I think it's fine if the purpose of a sex scene is to titillate, actually!

"i could have done without the sex scenes" well i could have done without the feast scenes in redwall but now i see them as an integral & specific part of the author's intention, which was to write immersive stories for visually impaired kids! those scenes were, actually, necessary--just not for me!

like, some of my ace buds prefer a fade to black! or less! that's cool! but if you talk about sex as a special category--scarier, dirtier, & more adult than any other human activity--then you are helping out the fascist social order that makes all non-normative forms of sexuality illicit!! why!!

gently: it's fine if you don't love explicit sex scenes in fiction but it would be cool if you could talk about it without sounding indistinguishable from moms for liberty

trying to unpack all of this on bsky would take YEARS, but waving this kind of thing away as "preference" or whatever ignores the very real impact upon the perceptions of the human body. idk. fuck neolithe

brian pronger's "body fascism" discusses how the language we use for the human body calls it into being -- to conflate thinness, whiteness, delicateness with femininity IS fascist, racist, fatphobic and queerphobic, whether it's intentionally done or not!

"buff" and there's not even an ab outline or defined biceps. a belly add-on that adds perhaps an inch to the waist. no darkskin models. every face with big eyes, thin noses, puffy lips. that's "feminine" to you.

attributing femininity to "delicate" features. please god understand the words that you use. ik ppl love to throw around the term "fascism" in fandom rather lightly, but this is a glaring example of fascist aesthetics slipping into your perception of others.

there are two best things to be told as a creative imo, and they both boil down to:

1. "i liked your stuff so much it made me want to work on my own stuff"

2. "i have this feature/body type/am part of this character's demographic and the way you portray them makes me like myself more"
