I really like this question. A strong board isn’t one that always agrees, but one that welcomes robust discussion. Cohesion comes from valuing different viewpoints and creating space for governors to feel heard and understood.

Definitely agree on both those points.

Thanks, Emma! There is some discussion around online learning, especially its benefits in making training more accessible, with some noting a bigger uptake of training during Covid because it was online. However, there were some concerns around loss of networking opportunities/nuance in discussions.

It was wonderful to talk to @hoylerosemary.bsky.social about my PhD journey, research and the importance of governor training in producing effective governing bodies.

Looking forward to presenting at the British Educational Research Association (BERA) conference in September on "Governor training - a bridge to effective governance".
