Microsoft is the carbon removal market
The company bought 93% of global carbon removals last year, new research shows.
Microsoft bought 93% of all the carbon removal credits globally last year. This is absurd, and no way to determine which method might actually work and scale. Carbon dioxide removal research and development should be government-funded and government-led.

The importance of BOTH "carrot" AND "stick" (and the role of both demand-side and supply-side incentives) is discussed at length in The #NewClimateWar (bookshop.org/p/books/the-...)

Gasoline demand is famously inelastic; even large increases in cost have very small impact on demand.
The most efficient way to eliminate fossils is to eliminate demand, not blocking supply.
It's much more important to build solar, wind, EVs, bike-lanes, walkable cities, etc. than block pipelines.

Lucid buys Nikola factory at an auction - electrive.com
The Californian EV manufacturer Lucid has acquired the former production facility, headquarters and development centre of the insolvent electric truck
After going bankrupt, Nikola's factory has just been sold to Lucid motors - the luxury BEV car maker - for $30 million.
Lucid did not purchase Nikola's hydrogen portfolio though. The Nikola hydrogen truck is now officially dead.

Hydrogen emissions are βsuperchargingβ the warming impact of methane - Carbon Brief
The warming impact of hydrogen has been βoverlookedβ in projections of climate change, authors of the latest βglobal hydrogen budgetβ say.
The Global Carbon Project has just published the most comprehensive Global Hydrogen Budget to date.
H2, although not a GHG, has an indirect Global Warming Potential 37 times more potent than CO2.

Ammonia gas leak from a tanker truck in Oklahoma sickens dozens and forces evacuations
Officials lifted a shelter-in-place order Thursday morning, hours after emergency workers wearing gas masks went door-to-door in Weatherford, waking people up and telling them to leave.
If you think ammonia would make a good shipping fuel, watch this. The industrial safety guru Trevor Kletz said "what you don't have, can't leak." I've chaired the TfL board safety panel and I'll tell you "what you do have, will leak". Enough Powerpoints. Think!

Finland has a goal to be net zero GHG emissions by 2035.
Emissions were declining, the LULUCF removals were strong, the plan was looking good, but then LULUCF collapsed.
Net GHG emissions have actually risen over the last decade!
