A young man with black hair, wearing a black suit, is sitting against a black background, playing a black piano. There is a lit iPad in front of him, showing up as a white panel. He is looking down at his hands. Running across the frame are words and jumbled letters in white typed text including the words 'answer', 'so are you there? hmm where are you?', 'acids', 'aminoacids' and 'john it's george'. The text is slanted down towards the right, and we can see a blurred reflection of it as a pale yellowish grey overlaying the bottom part of the image.

A young man with dark hair, wearing a dark suit is playing a black piano. He is sitting in a pool of light that illuminates his face, hands and the keyboard, but otherwise he and the piano blend somewhat with the black background of the image. Above his head we can see jumbled typed messages, (mis)transcribed from the answering machine tape that forms the backbone of the piece, finishing with the words "could you please give me a call? answer machine tape, 1987 (peter)"

A young man with curly black hair, wearing a blue suit is standing in the middle of four synthesiser keyboards, arranged to form a square. He is playing two of them - one with each hand, and looking off, out of the photograph, to our left. He is wearing a black glove on his (from our perspective) left hand. We can see cables running from the keyboards, all of them coloured - blue, green or red - and the lighting is atmospheric, blending from blue (on the right) through pink in the middle to a purple tone on the leftmost side of the image.

A beautifully textured, industrial brick wall - possibly Victorian - in Birmingham. The brick is a yellowish tone, stained as if by tainted water running down from the top of it. The wall is graffitied at the bottom - yellow and blue on the right, white with a black drop-shadow on a multicoloured background on the left, with industrial-looking signage. There's an elegantly shaped segmental arch opening, through which we can see a series of similar openings in walls further away, the perspective showing the archways diminishing in size so that those further away seem to be contained by the ones closer to the viewer.
