29.10.2025 16:00 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0worse than ppl just thinking "poor" is like, "working class" calcifying as an identity rather than a subject position or something — something you Are rather than are subjected to. much harder to imagine it's abolition when associated contingencies like accents get welded to it
25.10.2025 07:02 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0one of the weirdest things abt online art discourse esp around music is the total antipathy to comparison, like as if comparing/finding connections is this violent move done to diminish the sacred individuality of a piece of work (or worse, the artist)

11.10.2025 08:10 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0generally i think a lot of ppl sort of get this but too quickly latch onto a previous form of meaning (religion n spirituality etc) as being fundamental to it, rather than just a particular game everyone was in on for a stretch of time
11.10.2025 07:19 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0rlly the extent to which there's a pervasive mood of 'meaning' having evacuated modernity is the result of consensus/agreement (mb even democracy as such) having assumed a diminished pedigree
11.10.2025 07:12 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0continental heidegger trad says meaning/knowledge is something hidden/obscured/buried/secret etc — im much more inclined towards meaning being a game a la wittgenstein
11.10.2025 07:06 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0used to think saying continental phil = obscurantist was a silly dismissal (and in a lot of cases is just that), but now i do think there's some truth to it, at least to the extent it's largely a heideggerian tradition, so you get this like moral imperative to speak your own language

07.08.2025 10:35 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0like idk maybe theres this sense that, ai has finally closed off the non woo woo side of art, so people have to retreat/double down on meaning in art being this ineffable quantity only accessible to the truly sensitive/whimsical(?) — which seems like buying into the ai hypemen's spiel by negation
18.07.2025 14:27 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0also like how Meaning seems like it's framed as something totally interior and individual, like it's a sort of spiritual conquest one sets out on to find within the rubble of culture. maybe its just a vibe ive felt but i do think it feels like some sort of trend
18.07.2025 14:25 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0maybe it's post 'ai' ubiquity, but it seems rlly noticeable to me that not only have tech people become more Spiritual about things, but also the opposition to that whole faction, like as if ppl are battling over who has the genuine say on the soul/heart/spirit of creativity
18.07.2025 14:25 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Bizarre how widespread this guru-like, quasi spiritual language around Finding Meaning has become.

21.06.2025 03:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0anytime i look at twitter now just get totally assailed with fakedeep banalities about 'ai', 'slop', 'content', quote tweets of some tiktok vid, bla bla whatever. dont need to see postgrads tweeting """culture is vapid""" in various new and exciting ways
21.06.2025 03:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0rather than it being a greater emphasis on medium/material, feels like the reverse, like trying to kill off anything in the medium that the narrative cannot contain.
hyperreal logic at work — the medium (the real) vanishes through the efforts to represent it wholesale inside the narrative (art).
the souls games make me think of this whenever i play one, bcos they feel like total dead ends to me — theres really nowhere u can 'go' or take the concepts beyond/outside them. feels like shutting down ambiguity/ambivalence via turning things into themes/lore
18.06.2025 05:09 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0i think i dont rlly like 'meta' plots bcos they're often just way too cut and dry. a sort of cinemasins desire to banish contradiction and indeterminacy from art, that u could theoretically sweep away all the grit and friction of form/content to reach some smooth state of perfect unity.
18.06.2025 05:06 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I do get why so much art is made under the paradigm of representation, but it's a dangerous game to play. the art/life distinction is something that needs to be affirmed rather than dissolved (probs the biggest point of friction ive been feeling w/ a lot of 20thc stuff lately)
