Also presenting from the SPPIN team was Simran Brar, a trainee with Maria’s lab, who received an International DOHaD Society Travel Award, congratulations!

Some other notes from the @DOHaD World Congress. The Society, Pregnancy, Postpartum & Infant Neurodevelopment (SPPIN) research team, led by Dr. Maria Ospina (Queen’s University) shared early findings from this Canadian birth cohort. Congrats to Maria and Jenna Wowdzia, SPPIN project coordinator.

 Strong showing from the Connor Lab at DOHaD 2025 - great work on adverse dietary exposures on maternal gut function, and knowledge graphs to uncover new DOHaD evidence!

Congrats to MariaOspina who was a debater in a discussion entitled ‘The Academic Importance of Gender and Ethnic Diversity’ along with Wellerson Scarano Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Brazil and Ana Franchi, Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET), Argentina

DOHaD Canada hosted a fruitful and engaging mini symposium at the 13th World Congress of DOHaD, entitled “Translation and Advocacy: Putting DOHaD Research into Action,” featuring special guests, Drs. Jacquie Bay (University of Auckland) and Kent Thornburg (OHSU).
